Bahnhofstrasse

Design proposal and feasibility study for a block of flats in post industrial suburb in the Ruhrgebiet, Germany.

The free standing volume occupies a vacant backyard and garden, shielding its tenants from the noisy main street. Each of the 6 low cost units is orientated for maximum privacy, views and light, while the internal fittings and components have been standardised for cost effectiveness.
Each floor consists of two flats plus a additional, central space that can be switched to one of the units or can be used independently.
This allows to react to changing family circumstances without having to move.
